This is the first phase of the project initiated by Panda Green Energy and the United Nations development program. With a capacity of 100 megawatts (MW), capable of providing 3.2 trillion kWh of renewable electricity in 25 years.

In this first phase, 50 megawatts (MW) were installed. The solar power plant is located in Datong, Shanxi Province, China. It was connected to the grid at the end of June, the plant is the first opening of the “Panda Green Energy” project.

The first “Panda Green Energy” project is part of a cooperation agreement with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). An agreement between several countries to fight against climate change. Among them are Fiji, the Philippines and other developing countries. Fiji will be the next to build a panda-shaped solar power plant.

The complex is also intended as a training point for the youngest around solar energy. The Chinese government wants its young people to grow up convinced that the country’s future is to consume renewable energies.

This photovoltaic power station will contribute to the reduction of around 60,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year.
