Biomass is the oldest source of energy known to man: the combustion of organic matter to generate thermal energy and then heat. This practice has come a long way in terms of efficiency, both in home heating and in electricity production. Biomass applied to the domestic environment is an excellent source of thermal energy capable of eliminating, or at least reducing, our dependence on fossil fuels such as gas, coal and oil.

A biomass boiler is undoubtedly the best option in terms of savings and environmental sustainability. But there are a few things you should keep in mind before purchasing one.

When a boiler is installed or replaced, the dilemma arises spontaneously. Is the best option a biomass boiler or a traditional boiler?

Traditional boilers are all those that use non-renewable energies, fossil fuels and can be of different types, such as natural gas, LPG, diesel or electricity. These boilers are traditionally used in homes both for domestic heating and for the production of domestic hot water.

As for biomass combustion boilers, they use natural materials such as pellets, wood or wood chips. Very similar to each other, but with due differences in terms of calorific value, cost, availability, ash production and management of its use.

Wood as fuel has a neutral CO2 balance. In addition, it must be taken into account that the biomass used for heating is obtained mainly from agricultural crop residues, controlled deforestation and industrial residues from the processing of wood and paper.

Second, the cost-effectiveness. Biomass is widespread and sold in many stores. It is available all year round and not just in winter, when demand is greatest.
