These smart coatings are the result of mixing nanophotonic structures which selectively reflect the desired wavelength. The combination of coatings generates different colors in the solar modules. This is achieved without a substantial reduction in efficiency, a material for which the colors of this technology had been practically limited to black and blue. However, the panels with this colored coating have an efficiency of 60% compared to conventional cells, in the case where white is chosen. For colors like green, red or blue, the efficiency is 80% compared to a conventional panel.
