One of the most fascinating aspects of recycling is turning the simplest or most unnecessary material into a new form and new use. I loved this idea of Eleanna Kotsikou do something with toilet paper rolls. So I decided to share it with you. It’s an easy and fun project with an awesome end result !!!

Materials.

- About 20 empty toilet paper rolls.
- Bowl.
- Marker pen.
- The scissors.
- Glue or hot glue gun.
- Black paint.
- Black acrylic paint.
- Brush.
- Rule.
- Clothespins.
- Mask.
Instructions.
Step 1. Prepare the toilet paper rolls.
Fold up empty toilet paper rolls. You need to fold them along two opposite edges without completely flattening the center. Repeat the folding process for all but one of the rollers.

Once the rolls are folded, use the ruler to mark the two folded edges at 2.1cm intervals. This will divide the roll into five equal parts.

Cut the rolls at the marks.

The end result will be to have about 100 petal shaped bands. It depends on how many you want to use to create the lamp.

The petals should be sharp at the edges with the center curved, as you can see in the picture. It is also necessary to cut an additional strip of the same width (2.1 cm) from the paper roll that we saved.
Step 2. Glue and shape the lamp.
Now place the container upside down on your work surface. We will use the container as a base; the shape of the cup will help you shape the lamp.

The starting point is to form a flower on top of the cup.

Now at the top of the lamp you already have the shape of the flower. Well done!
Start by gluing more petal-shaped strips to the design. You just need to add the bands between two already existing ones. It is not necessary to follow a specific pattern. Continue to glue the pieces together and fill in the gaps to create a nice design. You can even add two petals between two existing petals.

Secure everything with clothespins until they are secure. Take into account the shape of the cut, so we will get the curved shape.

Add petals to complete the lamp design. The lower edge does not have to form a straight line. On the contrary, the more asymmetrical it is, the more original the design will be. So improvise and when you’re happy with the result, let dry. If you used the hot glue gun, clean the lamp by removing the excess glue.
3. Painting.
When the lamp is dry, it is ready to be painted. A black or metallic color works best for this project, but it’s up to you, you can choose.

Use the brush and a little black paint to correct any spots or corners that have not yet taken color, so we will have a perfect end result.

The lamp is now ready to be hung. To do this, pass the cable through the central hole of the screen before installing it on the ceiling. You can use clear fishing line or string to tie it to the cable. Set it slightly higher to avoid direct contact with heat. Remember to use an LED bulb so that its consumption is very low !!! In addition to avoiding possible heat problems.

And voila, you already have a beautiful recycled lamp ready to use !!!
