- Step 1 – The first thing to do is to take the cardboard and cut it, because it is not usual to find cardboard of the size you are looking for. Although it can be any size, we recommend that you start with an affordable size, in this case 6 x 6 inches. We recommend pastel colors that go with everything and, if possible, a double-sided card.
- 2nd step – Then, from each of the four corners, we will draw a line with the pencil that goes straight to the central point. To make this look as good as possible, use the ruler and move the line from corner to corner (upper left to lower right; and upper right to lower left). That is, you will only have to do two lines, but in the end there will be four that will go to the center.
- Step 3 – When you have drawn the lines, fold the paper from one corner to another, so that you have a triangle, but put it back. Repeat this two or three times so that the cardboard comes off.
- Step 4 – Cut to the touch. So, you need to cut along the lines you drew from the corners to the center, but not reaching the center point. You should leave about 2 cm in the center of each of the lines. If you do, you will need to change the card stock.
- Step 5 – Take each of the corners and bring them to the center, but be careful, you must take the longest of those you have. Be careful when bringing them to the center not to bend the paper and keep the loop in the crease.
- Step 6 – To hold the four corners, you must stick a thumbtack in the center of the cardboard. You will probably need to turn the thumbtack so that the hole widens and covers all four corners.
- Step 7 – Turn the cardboard over and place the beads that will fit on the pointed side of the brooch. You might only need one or two, but they should all be the same size. With this step, you will make sure that the mill has enough clearance to spin. Of course, the accounts have to be small, otherwise they will end up coming out the first time around.
- Step 8 – Put the cardboard aside and take the stick on which you will have to make a guide hole 1 cm from one of its ends. So that it does not break, it is best to soak it in lukewarm water for five minutes. You can then use the other pushpin to do this. If you need to, tap it with the hammer until the thumbtack adheres to the stick. Of course, don’t forget to remove it, because the stick won’t need the spit.
- Step 9 – The last step is to place the mill in the hole of the stick, inserting the original pin there. If it doesn’t quite fit, because the hole is too big, you can easily fix it by putting some glue on the pin and putting it back. Let the glue dry for a few minutes and try spinning the mill.
- Step 10 – For safety, if there is a piece of thumbtack sticking out, you can cut it or bend it with pliers. Now if kids are going to use it, better cut it or put more beads in it.
