Offshore wind farm

A recent study has shown that wind power is already cheaper than nuclear power. The research, conducted by energy consultant Mike Parr, looked at public data on offshore wind energy in Denmark (where this type of renewable energy is more efficient) and found that the technology is already economically viable and does not require no government subsidies.

The analysis was based on monthly production records of all wind turbines (onshore and offshore) in Denmark, as well as hourly data on total offshore wind production, according to Clean Technica. Due to its relative ease of use, this information gave Parr the opportunity to do a detailed economic analysis of existing and future offshore wind projects in Denmark, as well as projects in the German part of the North Sea.

Another of Parr’s findings was that wind power is cheaper than electricity from combined cycle power plants.

“When we analyze the available data, we can draw interesting conclusions about the evolution of the costs of offshore wind. Offshore wind turbines may already be cheaper than combined cycle gas turbines “

Energy from Anholt offshore wind farm it could be 40% cheaper than the proposed Hinkley nuclear project in the UK. While the Horns3 offshore wind project has proposed to provide electricity 58% cheaper than a nuclear power plant would cost.

With what appears to be a major victory for offshore wind, combined with increasingly affordable solar power – gas, coal, and nuclear power may soon decline, or that’s what we want.
