shoe

This month I was late, but they say good things are done to wait 😀

And There you go! Today we are going to give a second life to an old shoe.

Materials:

– 1 old shoe (no matter how it is but if it is a little high to put the pencils, if it is too short they will fall).

– Newspaper.

– Toilet paper or paper towels.

– White tail.

– Needle and thread.

– The scissors.

– 1 cord to decorate.

– Paints and brushes.

– Funny 🙂

Step 1.-

The shoe should be clean, especially the bottom. If it smells a little it doesn’t matter because when you fill it, it doesn’t come out jijiji 🙂

You take off the lacing and anything else that might bother you, but leave the tape where the lacing goes because you will need it, if they are like the ones in this shoe.

2nd step.-

Fill the shoe with newspaper. Start with small balls of paper to distribute it well. It should not be very swollen and no empty spaces, try to make it look normal as if you are wearing it.

Remember to save space for the pencils. You should fill in more or less to where the laces are tied.

Step 3.-

Now you sew the tongue with the edge (I don’t know what it’s called here, in Venezuela we say tongue to this part of the shoe J).

The color of the thread does not matter because it will not be seen later.

It must be baked because this way it stays fixed and you will not have any problem when you stick the paper.

Step 4.-

And here your shoe will start to take shape!

You need to glue toilet paper or paper towels all over the shoe including the inside and covering the padding paper, leaving the holes where the lace comes out. (below it is not necessary)

The paper can be easily torn, first glue the shoe with a big brush, put the small strips of paper on it, and put more glue on the paper.

Do not drag the brush with the glue on the paper, you should do it with soft touches so that it does not break.

If the glue is very thick, you can mix it with water.

Little paper is used, with 2 coats is enough, this is only to give it texture. Also, the advantage of working with toilet paper is that when it is wet and dry it becomes very hard and this is what will give the shoe its stiffness, the other advantage is that being white you don’t need to paint with a white base and if you do it anyway, you spend less paint.

When you are done, let it dry well, without touching it, at least 2 days.

Step 5.-

Once dry, the most fun comes 🙂

It’s time to paint your shoe !!

I did this with a very diluted watercolor because I love the way the colors blend together, but you can do it with any design you want and whatever you have at home.

Step 6.-

After painting you put the lace on it, which can be the same or another, I put a blue one because the shoe was black and I don’t like it with these flowers, you can even use a ribbon. Remember that the decoration can always be changed to your liking and depending on the materials you have 🙂

And the shoe is ready to store your pencils !!
For the next tutorial we will do something with the other shoe and we will have the pair 😉 surely in different places of our house because they will have different functions …

I hope you liked it and don’t forget to give your shoes another life, it can be an original gift
And as always, if you have any comments or questions, just write!
