Clean tech continues to evolve at a rapid pace every day, but there are also new twists and turns on existing technologies. Solar energy powers homes around the world. Solar energy is without a doubt the future and it is developing advanced technology.
A company in Switzerland and its partner, Kronberg and St. Gallish-Appenzellische Kraftwerke (SAK), have created something unique with solar energy.
More than a typical solar roof that one would install in their homes, this roof is intended for parking lots and would keep vehicles cool while it is hot by generating clean energy. The foldable solar roof can turn off when the sun is shining, fall asleep at night or when it rains to prevent damage.
Here are the specs:
- Size: 4000 m2.
- 1320 panels per roof.
- Parking spaces: 150
- Annual production: 350,000 kWh
The project started in spring 2020 with the construction of the foldable photovoltaic system in the Kronbergbahn parking lot.
This installation has 1,320 solar panels and produces 350,000 kWh per year. At the moment, the companies are looking for investors interested in the project.
In its first installation, the idea is to share the investment between many people and thus to finance the project. They made 660 panels available for the right of use – 330 panels are used directly by SAK and Kronbergbahn AG – and the license agreement lasts 15 years.
Those who wish to invest in a panel have two options. You can invest in a full panel or by quarter.
